The coast around us
North Bornholm is the island's most dramatic corner – granite cliffs, deep blue water and white beaches side by side.
Sandvig Beach
White sandy beach with shallow, clear water and views of Hammerknuden. Family-friendly and perfect for a morning swim.
Hammershus
Northern Europe's largest castle ruin, perched on the cliff above the sea. The visitor centre tells its story, and the paths around the ruin offer some of the island's best views.
Hammerknuden & Hammeren
Wild rocky landscape at the island's northern tip with hiking trails, a lighthouse and heather. Go late in the day – the sunset from the cliffs is something special.
Opalsøen (the Opal Lake)
A former granite quarry, today a turquoise lake surrounded by steep rock walls. One of the island's most photogenic spots – and in summer you can zip-line right across it.
Helligdomsklipperne (the Sanctuary Cliffs)
Dramatic rock formations and caves right at the water's edge. Combine with Bornholm Art Museum just above – or see the cliffs from the sea aboard M/S Thor from Gudhjem.
